WEDDING @ THE STONE CELLAR: GABI & ROBBY
It seems like only a few months ago that we were having a blast shooting Gabi & Robby's "nautical" engagement session near Pretoria. Suddenly I found myself at their wedding - and it was awesome. To say that it was one of the most intensely fun gatherings that I had been to would be an understatement. They entire theme was slightly hipster, with hay-bale seats, farm-style games, off-the-wall "gaucho" musicians, and a healthy dose of manicured facial hair. The ceremony was held outdoors at the beautiful Stone Cellar near Heidelberg in Gauteng. After 3 weeks of solid rain in the area, it was a total relief when their wedding day turned out to be absolutely perfect.
Our couple photo session was interesting, with us having to drive through 3 feet of solid mud to get to our location. I made it ok... in my trusty beast, but the pick-up behind me got properly stuck. It also happened to contain Robby & Gabi... and the sun was dipping rapidly. Luckily, the venue owners have a trusty tractor at hand, so it was sorted in 20 minutes & we hit our straps just in time. It was a truly memorable wedding!

Engagement Session: Kayan & Johann
I met Kayan & Johann last year when they booked me for their upcoming April wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed their outlook on life and love, especially since they both "serve" the community in two distinct capacities. Johann is an opthalmic registrar, and Kayan is doing her articles in human rights & environmental law.
I met Kayan & Johann last year when they booked me for their upcoming April wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed their outlook on life and love, especially since they both "serve" the community in two distinct capacities. Johann is an opthalmic registrar, and Kayan is doing her articles in human rights & environmental law. And because both their careers are steeped in academic tradition, they thought it would be cool to do their shoot at the Johannesburg Public library. It wasn't without it's challenges, but we managed to pull off some cool scenes. It was pretty interesting that they were setting up to shoot a few scenes for the upcoming Avengers movie just across the street - but that's strictly FYI. They are tying the knot at the stunning Vivere Country House in Pretoria East. Looking forward to it!

I met Gabi & the winter Bridal Expo last year. After 2 mins of chatting, I knew that I wanted to shoot their wedding. Luckily, they decided to go with me, and we met again about 2 weeks ago to do their engagement session. Both Robbie & Gabi are very cool customers, and it came through in the shoot. I really felt that they would be suited to a more nautical theme, so we met at the PSC and with the aid of the family boat, we made some magic.
